Methodology guide -- CN 7301 (sheet piling, welded structurals)

Welded structural sections are downstream of hot-rolled flat or section input. CBAM treatment: full chain emissions, dominated by upstream steel production (BF-BOF in China, EAF in Türkiye).

Step 1 -- understand the welding step adds little. Welding (arc or laser) is electricity-intensive but small in absolute terms (<0.05 t CO2/t). Already in supplier scope when welding is on-site.

Step 2 -- request the upstream chain. A welder importing CRC and welding into structurals needs to pass through the upstream CRC emissions. Reject welder-only emissions reports.
