Methodology guide -- CN 7226 (alloy flat-rolled, <600mm)

Narrow alloy flat-rolled steel mirrors CN 7225 in production route and emissions profile. The narrow form factor often indicates higher precision and higher value-add per tonne. CBAM treatment is identical: BF-BOF dominated, ~1.9-2.2 t/t direct from Chinese supply.

Step 1 -- request verified data for automotive applications. Automotive OEMs increasingly demand low-carbon supply for their own scope-3 reporting. Suppliers with verified-data programs are easier to find here than for pure commodity grades.

Step 2 -- track quarterly per the standard cadence. From 2026, certificates held quarterly. CN 7226 volumes are smaller but per-tonne CBAM cost matters in automotive cost engineering.
